As 2011 begins, I think about how blessed I am to have so many extraordinary people touch my life in various ways, how enriched my life has been because of these people, and how much I have learned and grown. No doubt that 2011 will bring its own set of breakdowns… and breakthroughs.

So… as a “thank-you” for all you’ve given to me, I’ve put together a list of what I wish for you in 2011.

For 2011, I wish you…

Compassion. I wish for you the ability to see your gifts, even when they are far from obvious. I wish for you to see the brilliance of every person who graces your life and share your overflowing compassion with them, even when they’re annoying or irritating. I wish for you a world open to and fully accepting of the graciousness of others.

Curiosity. I wish for you a reunion with your five-year-old within. I wish for you the desire to question yourself, discover unchartered territory and the joy of watching others as they push past their comfort zones. I wish for you the internal peace that comes with knowing that all you are and all you’ll become are brilliant – such confidence leads to more curiosity.

Clarity. I wish for you a clearing of the fogged mirror, which stands before many of us. I wish for you the ability to see the gift you are this year. I wish for you the ability to see the world as it truly is, rather than how you or others wish it to be. From here, all things are possible.

Courage. I wish you the deepest sense of courage to venture forth into the experiences, challenges, breakdowns, breakthroughs and successes beyond your imagination, which will ultimately help you become more of who you are in your core. I wish you the confidence to stand in the middle of all turmoil and not shrink back… to hold your torch of courage and remember who you are, what you’re here to do and your importance to everyone and everything in our world (mine included).

Contentment. I wish for you the ability to look in the mirror (that recently cleansed mirror) and see the gift of who you are today, trusting that the many yesterday’s have made you perfect for this day and the many tomorrow’s have yet to come. I wish for you a deep sense of trust that all you are is exactly what you’re meant to be for this time in your life. I wish for you the ability to see others as they are… and love them always.

Finally, I wish for you a year filled with joy, trusting that all you’ve done is right and all you’re doing (not-doing) is exactly what is needed for this time in your life. I wish for you the ability to live in alignment with what brings you and all those whose life you’ll touch (way more than you can imagine) happiness, joy, a real sense of freedom.

Happy New Year!

Warmly, Misti Burmeister
