Building Something That Lasts
Some businesses grow because they’re lucky.
Others grow because someone spends decades making thousands of difficult decisions—often without knowing whether they’re the right ones.
At this month’s Lewes Leadership Lunch, we’ll sit down with Annette Nero Stellhorn, owner of Accent on Travel, to explore what it really takes to build something that lasts.
Through a moderated conversation with Misti Burmeister, Annette will share stories from her leadership journey, the challenges she’s faced, and the lessons she’s learned while growing one of the nation’s most respected travel agencies.
Together, we’ll explore questions like:
- What does it take to build a successful business from almost nothing?
- How do you keep moving when no one else can yet see your vision?
- When should you trust your instincts—and when should you listen to others?
- How do you earn clients who stay with you for decades?
- What lessons can only be learned through years of leading people and serving others?
- Looking back, what would Annette tell her younger self?
As with every L3 gathering, this won’t be a lecture.
It will be an honest conversation filled with stories, reflection, and opportunities to learn alongside fellow leaders.
Whether you’re building a business, leading a team, or simply trying to become a more thoughtful leader, you’ll leave with practical insights you can apply immediately.

About Annette Stellhorn

Annette has never been afraid to lead with conviction. Over 15 years ago, she was among the first in the nation to introduce consulting fees, helping redefine travel from a simple transaction into a more thoughtful, personalized advisory experience. That same spirit of bold leadership carried through the COVID-19 pandemic, when she worked tirelessly to keep her team employed, made strategic acquisitions, and positioned the company to meet the surge in demand as travel returned. Over her 38 years in the travel industry, she has also embraced innovation, launching a new responsive website that opened the door to fresh audiences and clients. More recently, she brought AI into the business to help her team communicate more efficiently and effectively.
Beyond business, Annette’s commitment to service is deeply felt. She and her husband have supported a student in Nairobi for eight years, and Accent on Travel has helped more than 26 local nonprofits with over $350,000 in contributions and travel donations.
